Social Gatherings

Parent CATS, in conjuction with Libertyville High School Student Assistance Coordinator Nancy Dick, present these guidelines intended to aid in promoting safe and happy social experiences for our teens.

Attending social events and parties are important steps in developing good social skills during the teen years. But all too often we hear of social gatherings at which alcohol or drug use was involved.  Apart from legal and school disciplinary consequences that will follow if a student is found to have engaged in alcohol or drug use, such use can lead directly to unsafe situations and activities and can further set the pattern for unhealthy practices and habits.

It should be the responsibility of every parent to first ensure that any gatherings hosted in the family home will be an adequately supervised.  Secondly, to attempt to see that their teen will not attend unsupervised gatherings or parties outside of their own home.

Parent CATS hopes that these guidelines will help to ensure positive experiences for both teens and parents.
